A new start in Northamptonshire with Genesishomes

Bridleways, the new development by Genesishomes near Northampton, is offering fresh opportunities for buyers looking for an affordable way to buy a new home.

Bev Gates is one such buyer. ‘Bridleways has been a new start for me,’ says Bev, 50, who has lived in the Northampton area for 25 years. ‘I’ve rented since getting divorced – I couldn’t afford to buy – and I missed the security that owning your property provides. Genesis’s part-buy scheme allowed me to own a share of a new home. I bought a 25% share of my house and pay rent to Genesis on the balance.’

Since moving into her new home with her daughter Kirsty, 16, Bev feels that she has started a new chapter in her life. Bev’s two-bedroom house brings her the security of part-owning her home, as well as an easy commute to her work as an administrator in an employment agency in Northampton. ‘I was primarily attracted by the part-ownership scheme,’ she says, ‘but I was also impressed with the really good, modern accommodation, the high standard of finish and the number of items that were included in the price’. Properties at Bridleways come with carpets, fully fitted kitchens, fridge/freezers, washer/driers, even a shed and clothes line in the garden.

The development’s green credentials were a big bonus. ‘The house has solar panels and excellent insulation, so hopefully my bills will be significantly smaller,’ say Bev.

All Bridleways properties are designed to high Eco Homes standards and include tanks to collect rainwater, a sustainable urban drainage system to minimise flooding, bird and bat boxes and a new pond to encourage wildlife. Some houses also have solar panels to provide hot water and reduce energy consumption.

There are only a limited number of one and two-bedroom apartments remaining at Bridleways. All properties have high standards of thermal insulation, energy efficient gas central heating and an allocated parking space; while most apartments have a private balcony

Buyers can purchase between 25% and 75% and can increase their share at any time, all the way to 100% and outright ownership. Bridleways is available to anyone who does not already own a property and is unable to buy a home on the open market. Their total household income must be less than £60,000 per annum and ideally have savings of around £3,500 to cover moving and legal costs.

Bridleways is situated just 10 minutes from Northampton, England’s largest town, which has a lot to offer including excellent shopping, festivals, several great leisure complexes and a number of sporting attractions.

In addition, Northamptonshire has urban parks spanning over 1,600 acres, while for those seeking something a little more racy, Silverstone and Rockingham Speedway are just down the road.

Prices at Bridleways start as little as £22,500 for a 25% share based on a full market value of £90,000.
