Housing development comes to life in Henfield

20th July 2011 Print

When most youngsters are winding down in anticipation of the summer holidays, one pupil from Henfield has been busy securing her place in the history books after coming up with the name of a new housing development.

Charles Church South Coast enlisted the help of children from St Peters C of E Primary School on Fabians Way, Henfield, to think of a name for one of the company’s newest housing developments to launch in the region.

After much deliberation, six year old Isabelle Lucy-Fernandez was announced as the winner who suggested ‘Bysshop Meadow’ in homage to Henry Bysshop who was Henfield’s post master general from 1660 to 1663.

Jackie Dowell, Charles Church’s field sales manager, comments: “We had an overwhelming number of entries through from children from St Peters and I’d like to thank each and every one of them for their enthusiasm and creative ideas. However, Isabelle was a clear winner with her suggested name and for the historical links it has with the village.”

Nick Phillips, headteacher, added: “Children really enjoy working with real-life companies as it often adds an extra dimension to their learning. They all really loved getting involved in the competition and we’ll be following the progress of the development with interest, knowing one of our pupils came up with the name!”

As a thank you for taking part, Charles Church presented Isabelle with £20 worth of WH Smith vouchers and donated £200 worth of vouchers to the School.

Charles Church takes its role in the community extremely seriously and the development naming competition was an initiative designed to forge a greater working relationship between local schools and the company.

Bysshop Meadow, situated on Parsonage Farm, will be opening at the end of the year – the development has been designed to appeal to all tastes and budgets and will include a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom homes.

Jackie concludes: “Whether you’re a first time buyer looking to take that all important step on the property ladder, or a growing family who’s craving more space, there will be a home at Bysshop Meadow that will tick all the right boxes.

“What’s more, to celebrate the launch of the site, we’ll have a range of home moving offers available meaning buying a new home has never been more affordable.”
