It's not everyone who has the courage and confidence to buy a brand new home without the first brick even being laid.

However, first time buyer Debbie Murray was so determined to snap up a new home in Howden that she put down a deposit on her two-bedroom property within days of registering her interest in the ‘coming soon’ development.

Living close to Linden Homes’ King Edgar’s Court development has meant that Debbie (36) has been able to watch her new home being built, literally brick by brick.

And what’s more – she even received some interior design tips from celebrity Linda Barker, VIP guest at the development’s recent show home opening.

Debbie, who works locally for the Press Association, said: “I was actively looking for a new build home as I was coming out of rented accommodation. I had seen some activity on what now is the King Edgar’s Court development last year and registered my interest as soon as I was able – following that up with a reservation shortly after.”

She added: “Buying off plan can be seen as a brave thing to do, but the benefits are huge – I was able to pick my preferred plot on the development and choose a south facing garden as I’d never had a garden before.”

The first time Debbie saw her new home from the inside was during the development’s show home launch at Easter, where she was also able to glean some expert advice in interior fashion, colours and fabrics from Linda Baker.

“Talking to Linda was a great help,” said Debbie – who was the first resident to move onto the development. “Looking around the show home was also a great inspiration, and I have chosen some of the tiles for my own home that are used in the show home. Show homes are fabulous places to look for ideas of colours and textures.”

The King Edgar’s Court development is open seven days a week from 10.3am until 5pm.
