Homebuyers find ideal retirement property in Telford

Eileen and Richard Hewer found their perfect home in a superb location when they moved to Taylor Wimpey’s Ironstone development of property for sale in Telford, Shropshire.
When Eileen and Richard Hewer began the search for their ideal retirement property, finding a well-connected community within peaceful and attractive surroundings was top of their relocation agenda.
Having returned to the UK after three years working in New Zealand, the couple were keen to begin a new life with a new property in Shropshire, where they could be closer to their family and enjoy beautiful countryside on the doorstep.
It wasn’t long before they discovered Taylor Wimpey’s innovative Ironstone development of apartments and houses for sale in Telford – and as Eileen explains, they are certainly glad that they did!
“The location of Ironstone is perfect for us,” says the 61-year-old former biomedical scientist, who is happily settling into her new property in Telford. “It’s so close to the Shropshire countryside, which is really appealing, and it’s also really accessible, with great road links making it easy to travel north, south, east and west.
“We love the fact that every home has its own individual identity here – it’s nothing like these identikit housing developments that you find elsewhere. We also appreciate the whole ethos of Ironstone because even though it is relatively new, it already feels like a real community.”
Carefully designed as to serve as both a sustainable community and a bustling social hub, Ironstone comprises four distinct neighbourhoods complete with public open spaces and a host of local amenities, including a supermarket, offices, shops, community facilities and a primary school.
Residents are encouraged to become actively involved in village life and make decisions about the future of the village, fostering a genuine sense of shared community spirit within the development.
Eileen and Richard (64) chose a detached, three-storey, four-bedroom ‘Brooklyn’ at Wenlock Square, the latest phase of the Ironstone development which is now sold out. Their new home offers them plenty more space and privacy than their previous three-bedroom semi-detached property in Yorkshire.
They were also helped to make a hassle-free move to their brand new home through Taylor Wimpey’s Part Exchange scheme, which offers purchasers the market value of their old property, based on the average of independent valuations.
With Taylor Wimpey as their guaranteed buyer, customers know exactly how much they have to spend at the development and are free to relax in their current place until their brand new home is ready to move into.
Eileen says: “It was fantastic because it took all the pressure away from trying to sell our previous property, and made the moving process a lot more relaxing.
“Taylor Wimpey were absolutely brilliant the whole way through – they answered all of our questions and they dealt with everything quickly and efficiently. The whole process was so smooth and stress-free and now we’re loving life in our new home.”
Property-seekers hoping to follow in Eileen and Richard’s footsteps can now register their interest in New Dale Village, the new phase of the Ironstone development which is due to be launched later this year.
Ironstone village is well served by both existing and planned public transport links, while the M54 and M6 are only a short drive away, with Telford’s vast array of shopping and leisure opportunities located less than three miles from home.
Ironstone Management Services (IMS), a joint venture between Bournville Village Trust and Beth Johnson Housing Association, will deliver stewardship at Ironstone, which includes estate wardens, enhanced community communications and events, digital technology and high-quality landscaping.
New Dale Village is part of Ironstone, Telford’s premier new homes development. Located just two miles west of Telford town centre, it is currently the largest sustainable urban residential development of its kind in the UK providing 3500 new homes, alongside new health, education, retail and leisure facilities.
The project represents a visionary approach to new home building, placing a greater emphasis on design and sustainability. The result is a new community with a clear character and a strong sense of place.
To be among the first to find out more about New Dale Village, home-hunters can register their interest by visiting the Sales Centre, located off Dawley Road, Lawley, Telford, and open daily from 11am to 5pm.
