Fee-free cash withdrawals in Spain for Santander customers

26th July 2011 Print

More than 12 million British people go on holiday to Spain every year and those who have their main current account with Santander can benefit from fee-free cash withdrawals when using their Visa Debit card at any of Santander's 4,300 cash machines across Spain.

This means these customers won't have to pay the usual cash handling and foreign exchange fees that many other banks' customers pay when they take money out in Spain.

The number of cash withdrawals made by British Santander customers at the bank's ATMs in Spain has continued to increase over the past two years - demonstrating how they are making the most of the fee-free cash withdrawals offered by the bank.

Helen Bierton, Head of Current Accounts at Santander UK, said: "British people love Spain as a holiday destination for its wonderful beaches and rich culture, and it's an even more enjoyable destination if you can avoid paying foreign transaction fees at cash machines.

"We think it's important to reward customers who have their main current account with us and offering fee-free withdrawals at our ATMs in Spain is just one way of doing this.  Plus over the summer months new customers who switch to our Preferred, Reward or Premium current account will get an additional incentive of £100 for moving their main banking relationship to us - and that's on top of 5 per cent AER in-credit interest."
