Autumnal escape to the New Forest
The Stanwell hotel is an oasis of calm, located on bustling Lymington High Street, one of the UK’s prettiest market towns, which is lined with Georgian buildings and has been home to a huge market every Saturday for over 800 years.
At the heart of this cosmopolitan hotel is a glass-covered courtyard, which is perfect for a relaxing morning coffee, an informal lunch, or dinner for those who wish to have the family pet with them whilst they dine (Stanwell has several dog-friendly rooms which greet doggie guests with a throw and a Bonio!).
Proud of its cuisine, using local New Forest and coastal produce wherever possible, head chef Xavier Souletis – who currently holds an AA Rosette (and is striving for a second) – serves delicious dishes.
‘Seafood at Stanwells’ restaurant, which was recently refurbished, is where Xavier’s passion for using the finest and freshest seafood is on display daily; originating from the French coastal port of La Rochelle, he clearly knows what he’s doing.
The Bistro, which has an array of menu choices including à la carte, 8 course tasting and traditional grill menu, is located at the rear of the hotel overlooking the terrace. The food is contemporary European and caters for the most discerning tastes, complemented by a well-established wine selection.
Although Stanwell has two separate restaurants, either menu choice can be enjoyed in the conservatory or al fresco on the terrace, weather permitting.
Located at the southern tip of the New Forest, the property is just a few minutes’ walk from the busy quay, and a short drive from many of the New Forest’s other towns and attractions including Beaulieu, Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.
The price of a two-night break in September or October is from £120 per person (two sharing), on a B & B basis and including one dinner. The package quoted is valid from Sunday–Thursday until 31st October.
