Honda has been rated the UK's most reliable manufacturer in the latest What Car? and Warranty Direct reliability study for an unprecedented sixth year in a row. The 2011 survey result reinforces Honda's reputation for building rock-solid, dependable cars you can trust.

Honda beat rivals to the top of the What Car? league table thanks to an impressively-low 9 per cent failure rate in the first 12 months. Honda dominated the top of the SUV table with the HR-V and CR-V at number one and two. Jazz and Accord both come fifth in their respective classes while Civic came third in the small hatchback category.

“The success of Honda in this years’ reliability study is very impressive, especially as this is Honda’s sixth overall win as the UK’s most reliable car maker. Reliability is key for car buyers. The car makers at the bottom of the study have a lot of work to do to catch up with Honda,” commented What Car? Editor In Chief, Chas Hallett.

If you wanted more proof
What Car? isn’t the only title to recognise Honda’s bullet-proof reliability. The 2011 Which? Car survey last week named Honda as the Most Reliable Brand and the 2011 JD Power Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study saw Honda retain the number two spot in the overall league table – the highest-placed volume manufacturer. The JD Power Survey also awarded Jazz its eighth consecutive win in the Supermini class and for the second year running Accord topped the chart in the family car category, while both Civic and CR-V were ranked second in their own respective classes.

Honda also currently holds the top spot as Britain’s most reliable car manufacturer in the influential FN50 survey. Honda beat off rivals in this annual survey which is published by industry-leading publication Fleet News. The report covers 1.5 million vehicles owned or managed by the country's 50 largest contract hire companies. Honda also featured highly in the top ten most reliable cars with the Accord and British-built Civic in second and ninth place respectively.

Dave Hodgetts, Managing Director, Honda (UK), commented; “We strive to make every second of Honda ownership an enjoyable experience, and that means looking after our drivers throughout their use of our cars. This all starts with building reliable and high quality cars that are affordable to run and maintain, but continues with service at our dealers that exceeds expectation.”

Why are Honda products so reliable?
At the heart of Honda's approach is understanding and meeting customer requirements. Honda takes a complete approach to build quality and vehicle reliability. Reliability isn't just a focus during the manufacturing process but also at the research and development stage, during the parts procurement process and is a key part of the work Honda carries out with suppliers. Only by focussing on vehicle quality throughout the design and build process can Honda deliver such a strong record for cars that just don’t go wrong.

Since 2004/05, Honda has had a uniform manufacturing process across the world, meaning that the same models, built in different manufacturing plants, are assembled in an identical fashion. This helps to deliver consistency in manufacturing activity and output.

Over 80 per cent of the cars Honda sells in the UK are built at its manufacturing facility in Swindon, so the recent reliability survey results reflect the high standards and engineering expertise of the associates at the plant.

“Success in reliability studies further proves the dedication, skill and passion of our engineers, both at the development and manufacturing stages, and we are incredibly proud to be the most reliable manufacturer in the industry – yet again,” added Dave Hodgetts.
