Having a beautiful home is a top priority for many homeowners. And with a few smart tips from the professionals, anyone can create a stunning decorating scheme to enrich their home life and make the most of current trends.

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Manchester has teamed up with Show Business Interiors, based in Sandbach, to give homeowners some tips on current trends and easy decorating ideas.

Sian Jenkins, interior designer at Show Business Interiors, says: “Interior design trends follow fashion trends. At the moment we are producing design schemes based on 2012 Autumn/Winter colour palettes which are neutral soft tones, warmer earthy shades combined with darker grounding accents.

“Spring 2011 saw regal colours being used in our design schemes, detailed with lace in bed linen and drapes – thanks to Will & Kate! Block bold colours of fuchsia, tangerine and yellow in wallpapers and scatter cushions have also be utilised again following catwalk trends.

“Trends do sometimes differ from area to area. In city centres the look is often very contemporary aimed at first time buyers and professionals with sleek lines and good storage. Executive family homes will demonstrate a real family feel using luxurious colours and textures in furnishings.

“Show homes will always give the wow appeal, inspiration and the desire to create the same look. Creating a mood board with wallpaper and fabric samples and pictures of pieces of furniture and lighting will help anyone to see how the finished look would come together. Lifestyle magazines and DIY blogs will also inspire and are easily accessible.

Taylor Wimpey is currently building at Farrier’s Green in Sandbach. It currently has a range of two, three and four bedroom detached homes. Two bedroom mews homes are available, with prices starting from £96,250 for an affordable property. Four bedroom detached homes start at just £284,995 and three bedroom detached are priced at £229,995.

For expert inspiration, the four bedroom detached Shelford show home at Farrier’s Green is available for viewing and is decorated in luxurious tones of taupe, beige and mushroom.

Extra added ons are also available on selected homes at Farrier’s Green, including AEG range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, upgraded kitchen units, ceramic floor tiles, ceramic bathroom tiles and turf to the back garden.

Sian’s Top Tips for Decorating

Visit local show homes for design inspiration – they have been decorated by the professionals of course!

If being on trend is important to you, just look at the catwalk for inspiration.

Consider the practicalities of decorating – a family home will have different needs to a bachelor pad or city centre apartment.

Look at decorating websites and blogs for inspiration and to see real life homes.

Don’t just rush straight into the hands-on process – create a mood board with ideas for paint, fabric and finishing touches to make sure you’re happy with the overall design and nothing clashes.
