£1,000 cash back for Exeter students
Students at Exeter University are in line for a whopping £1,000 cash back – just for signing up to live in purpose built accommodation in the city.
And the money doesn’t have to be spent on university accommodation – students are free to spend the money as they wish on anything from designer clothes to computer consoles.
The generous offer has been launched in a bid to encourage students into homes at Point Exe rather than head into private accommodation in the city which is already under pressure from those living and working in Exeter.
The scheme is the brainchild of Spectrum Housing Goup and its group director of development Jitinder Takhar said there are benefits all round.
“Students more than ever are thinking about whether or not they can even afford to go to university and as a major provider of student housing in Exeter we feel that it’s important to support students if we can and to thank them for supporting us by staying at our scheme.’’
She said students can join forces and live in shared flats or individual rooms and just need to sign up for a year to secure the £1,000.
Spectrum is piloting the initiative at Point Exe which offers en-suite and shared accommodation close to the University of Exeter. The cash back scheme will be available to students signing up for a year to stay there – if well received it will look to roll it out to other schemes in the area.
“Not surprisingly the campaign is already attracting plenty of interest from students and we’re gearing up for a sell out in the next few weeks as students finalise their living arrangements for the coming year.’’
The purpose built accommodation offers students the chance to share with their mates in ‘shared apartments’ which means they have their own en-suite room and share a kitchen. Alternatively our first year students will find this style of accommodation a great way to meet people. Rents are competitive with the private rented sector and the facilities include a laundry, security, internet access and a full repairs service.
