Money-saving app vouchercloud has seen a dramatic 40% increase in voucher downloads since schools broke up for summer at the end of July. The first week of the summer holidays saw 39,000 vouchers downloaded (a 40% increase on the week before) – 69% from the Days Out, Leisure & Entertainment and Travel & Hotels categories alone.

The mobile discounts app has signed up over 200 exclusive offers specifically aimed at saving families money on everything from bowling and museums to caving and trips to the zoo.

Download statistics reveal that local, independent attractions and leisure destinations have been as equally as popular as larger, national brands.

Greg Le Tocq, MD, vouchercloud said: “It’s well documented that everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment. vouchercloud makes parents’ cash go further and helps curb the spiralling costs of summer entertaining.

“We recently asked our users how much they spend on entertaining the children during the holidays and the results were astounding – approximately £500 per family which equates to £2 billion UK-wide. The influx of downloads and new registrations we’re experiencing pays testament to the fact that parents are actively seeking deals and discounts to keep the children happy this summer. “
