New homes development set to bring community cash injection

The local community will benefit from nearly £1million of investment after planners gave housebuilder Redrow the green light to build 80 new homes in Crawley Down.
As part of the planning agreement, Redrow Homes will commit to a number of contributions to the community including donations to local education, libraries, public art and offsite highway works as well as provision of public open space away from the site.
The developer is set to build the new high quality family housing on eight acres of land off Grange Road. The £27.5m development, to be named King’s Acre, will feature 56 three and four-bedroom homes for private sale and 24 affordable two, three and four-bedroom homes.
With a sales launch planned for early next year, the private homes will be from Redrow’s sought-after New Heritage Collection, which combine Arts and Crafts inspired traditional exteriors with bright modern interiors.
Building work is expected to start towards the end of the year following the completion of ecology works. A number of existing mature trees and hedgerows will be retained and two areas of open space will be incorporated into the development’s layout, including a belt of woodland to the south.
Lesley Stringer, sales director for Redrow Homes (South West), said: “King’s Acre is our first New Heritage Collection venture in West Sussex and will, I’m sure, prove to be just as popular as our schemes in East Sussex, Kent and Essex.
“Perfectly located in the picturesque village of Crawley Down, seven miles from Gatwick Airport, our traditionally styled homes will blend perfectly with the established family homes in the area.”
Properties will feature contemporary interiors with an emphasis on convivial open-plan spaces for modern family living and thoughtfully planned kitchens incorporating top brand name appliances.
Crawley Down lies in the Northeast corner of West Sussex, just one mile from the border with Surrey. There are good commuter links from the nearby railway stations at Three Bridges from where direct trains into central London take around 35 minutes, and East Grinstead.
