Mazda hits a high note in the Highlands
Mazda is heading for its best ever sales north of the border having achieved a record market share in Scotland for the month of November.Sales of almost 550 Mazda models gave the company a share of just under 4.5 per cent of the Scottish market, edging the company closer to a record 3 per cent share for the year.
Sales Director Jeremy Thomson believes Mazda can nudge over that figure during December.
“We are well on track to sell 5,500 vehicles for the year and that should allow us to achieve a 3 per cent market share. That said, December can always be a difficult month, but we think we can do it,” he said.
Top movers were the Mazda6 – which entered that top-10 best sellers chart in Scotland for the first time in November – and the Mazda3.
Mr Thomson said: “We are really pleased with the performance of the Mazda6 which accounted for just under half of our total sales and pushed up to number eight in the charts.
“Scotland, like our other strong regions in the UK, is successful for Mazda due to its effective and well?established dealers across the whole region and a very loyal customer base that return to the brand again and again.
"Additionally, the newer Scottish Mazda dealers have seen a quick return on investment thanks to our continued stream of exciting new cars. Mazda UK's continued sales uplift is boosted by these Mazda dealers who believe in the brand and this is where Scotland has played a vital role.”
Across Scotland, a significant number of Mazda dealers are either refurbishing existing premises or relocating to new and improved facilities each of which is investing in the Japanese brand as it continues to grow its popularity north of the border.
