iPod Nano for every new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe Mazda Motors UK has announced that all six models in the exciting Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe range will feature an equipment upgrade for 2007, with both iPod connectivity and an Apple iPod Nano as standard.

“We are delighted to announce this upgrade for the 2007 Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe,” enthused Rob Lindley, Managing Director Mazda Motors UK. “Demand for this new model is very strong and will be boosted further by equipping every Roadster Coupe with both iPod connectivity and an Apple iPod Nano as standard.

“With the added interest in the Roadster Coupe generated by its recent nomination by BBC Top Gear magazine as ‘Roadster of the Year 2006’, customers should visit their local Mazda dealer to be sure of obtaining the model they desire without delay, and to avoid possible disappointment.”

This was the second year-in-a-row that Mazda has scooped this prestigious crown, following last year’s victory for the Mazda MX-5 soft-top.

The Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe is the first vehicle in the Mazda range to benefit from this new iPod technology as standard equipment. The connection is located in the glovebox and the iPod can be operated using the steering-wheel mounted audio controls. Owners can play their favourite tunes from their iPod playlist through the car’s audio system, though the audio display will not show the artist or track name. The system is compatible with Apple iPods only, not with other MP3 players.

Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe prices, which now range from £18,500 to £21,000 (on?the?road), represent a modest premium over the soft-top model, as both climate control air?conditioning and the Option Pack are standardised on Roadster Coupe models.

Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe customers have the same choice of three powertrains (1.8i or 2.0i with 5-speed gearbox, 2.0i Sport with 6-speed gearbox) as Mazda MX-5 soft-top buyers, and a range of options and accessories to personalise their car.

All Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupes come with 16-inch, 5-spoke or 17-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels (dependent on model), climate control air-conditioning, leather steering wheel with audio controls, leather gear knob and handbrake lever, six audio speakers, stainless steel scuff plates, electric windows, remote central locking and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser.

All 2-litre models feature side airbags to protect the head and torso as standard, integrated into the seatback sides and designed to achieve an effect similar to curtain airbags in a closed-body vehicle. Dynamic stability control with traction control is also standard. A choice of six body colours is available – including two new mica colours (Stormy Blue and Copper Red), plus one other mica (Galaxy Grey), one metallic (Sunlight Silver) and two solids (Brilliant Black and True Red).

The new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe will undoubtedly ensure Mazda maintains its position as Britain’s Favourite Sports Car Brand in 2007 thanks to the world’s fastest retractable hard top – opening or closing in just 12 seconds – and its excellent specification levels including the iPod Nano as standard.
