Best friends Patricia Fletcher and Victoria Cerasoli have been bowled over by their new apartment at St George’s Park retirement development in Ditchling Common, East Sussex.

Friends for over 30 years, Patricia and Victoria purchased their two bedroom apartment off plan so that they could secure one which overlooks the bowling green. Victoria comments: “We spent two years searching for the right place to move to and St George’s Park ticked all the right boxes. We are both bowling enthusiasts and when we found an apartment overlooking the bowling green we knew it was the perfect place for us.”

Moving from a four bedroom house, Patricia and Victoria both initially had a few concerns about downsizing to an apartment but have been pleasantly surprised by the space provided in the new home. Victoria comments: “You would be amazed as to how much space we have in the apartment. The living / dining / kitchen area is a great size and we have been able to use some of the furniture we already had in our previous home. We also have a very spacious patio where we have a table and chairs to sit out and enjoy watching the bowling when we aren’t playing.”

For Patricia meanwhile, the 250 acre setting of St George’s Park won her over. Patricia comments: “To be able to take a stroll in the evening without having your safety compromised is truly wonderful. All our worries have been taken away and life truly is like one long holiday. We have always led busy lives and the facilities here mean that we can continue to be as active as we wish, plus everyone is very pleasant and we have made many new friends.”

Residents can enjoy an active social life by getting involved with the Resident’s Association, who organise table tennis, snooker, line dancing, short tennis, croquet and short mat bowls to name a few.

Residents can also use the gymnasium, restaurant, café bar, hairdressers, convenience shop, games room and library that are located in the spacious and well used community centre, Maes Court. This centre also includes a multi-purpose function room and a treatment room that provides excellent amenities for visiting therapists.

The original concert hall, with its ornate ceiling, is also available to residents and makes an ideal place for special occasions, communal gatherings and other events including plays, guest speakers, film nights or concerts. For residents that prefer the outdoors, there is a well-stocked lake for fishing, a footpath network across the 250 acres of grounds, woodland and lakes, and even an allotment club.

The development is also superbly located for the beautiful countryside of the South Downs, a mix of rural villages and towns including Brighton, which all have numerous places to explore, shop and restaurants to try. There is horse racing at both Brighton and Lingfield racecourses, and further afield, Goodwood, which is also a venue for motor racing and other internationally acclaimed events.

St George’s Park is within 3 miles of Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill both of which offer good local shopping including major supermarkets and excellent rail links to Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria.

Prices for currently available properties at St Georges Park start at £345,000 for a two bedroom apartment. For further information, visit stgeorgespark.co.uk.
