Exciting tours of Burma from Travel Indochina
Leading Asia specialist, Travel Indochina, has expanded its destination portfolio with the addition of two new Small Group Journeys to Burma. The company will offer a total of 24 guaranteed departures on their new 9-day and 13-day tours to Burma, which will depart for the first time in January and will operate through 2012.
The great range of experiences available on these new tours will be complemented by a combination of Western tour leaders as well as English-speaking local guides. What's more, both tours will run with a maximum of just 16 passengers per trip, allowing a real sense of personalisation and plenty of opportunities for independent exploration.
The carefully created 9-day "Highlights of Burma" itinerary will cover the highlights of Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay and Inle Lake. It will offer some very special experiences for Travel Indochina customers, including a horse and carriage ride through the Bagan plains at sunset; a heart-warming visit to a local nunnery to share lunch with the resident nuns, purchased earlier at a local market in Mandalay; and a charming boat trip to meet the locals at a little-visited village on the banks of the Irrawaddy river. The tour will depart for the first time on 8th January 2012 with prices starting from £1,045 per person*.
Travel Indochina's slightly longer 13-day "Burma Revealed" journey will include additional visits to the Pindaya Caves, Kalaw and a fascinating hilltribe trek in Intha and the Pak-oh villages. Guests of Travel Indochina will explore the thousands of beautiful temples in Bagan by bicycle; enjoy an unforgettable local train journey through the stunning scenery from the hill station of Kalaw to Shwe Nyaung; and gain a deeper understanding of local life during a visit to a local countryside school run by monks in Ava. The tour will depart for the first time on 16th January 2012 with prices starting from £1,340 per person*.
* Prices include hotel accommodation, four domestic flights, all road transport in air-conditioned vehicle, all sightseeing as specified, entrance fees, Western tour leader (based on a minimum of seven travellers), local English-speaking guides throughout, airport transfers, daily breakfast and one/two lunches. International flights are not included but can be arranged at an additional cost.
Travel Indochina's general manager, Chris Orme, comments: "We are delighted to offer our customers the chance to experience the magical wonders of Burma now that responsible travel, specifically genuine small group travel, is welcomed by the National League for Democracy. Feedback from a recent customer survey indicated that 86% of our travellers were in favour of Burma and this further prompted us to rethink our strategy. We are committed to responsible travel and our policy statement, available online, outlines our rationale in this important field."
