Taylor Wimpey helped Sharmain and Andrew Wall bring their search for an ideal home to a happy conclusion at The Meadows development of new homes for sale in Telford.

When the Wall family’s dream move to a brand new Taylor Wimpey property for sale in Telford threatened to fall through, the leading housebuilder stepped in to save the day.

Sharmaine, Andrew and their three children had been looking forward to moving into their new house at The Meadows development of new build homes in Telford’s Millennium Village, before the buyer of their old house pulled out of the deal six weeks before the big move.

Heartache soon turned to relief for the Walls, though, as Taylor Wimpey offered to buy their old home from them through its popular Part Exchange incentive, and now the family of five are settling in nicely to their four-bedroom ‘Poppy’ detached Telford property.

“At the last minute, our buyers had difficulty getting a mortgage and we were worried we wouldn’t be moving after all,” says Sharmaine.

“But Taylor Wimpey were brilliant, stepping in to save our move and buy our property from us. It was a quick and easy process and we’re so glad to be in our new home.”

Sharmaine, a 32-year-old administrator, and crane driver Andrew (34), had been desperate to upgrade from their three-bedroom semi-detached house to something more spacious, particularly as their sons, Joshua (15) and Cameron (5), were having to share a bedroom.

But, as Sharmaine reveals, the family, which also includes 10-year-old daughter Molly, feared a house as grand as the ‘Poppy’ would be out of their reach.

She says: “We visited the development, thinking we’d never be able to afford a brand new four-bedroom house, especially one that’s detached – but that’s exactly what we’ve got!

“We used financial advisors recommended by Taylor Wimpey and they were just brilliant. After speaking to them we realised we really could afford our dream home.”

Although there’s now a ‘Poppy’ showhome open at The Meadows, when the Walls reserved their house off-plan last year, they were able to use drawings and plans to gain an accurate idea of what it would be like – and they certainly weren’t disappointed with the result!

Sharmaine says: “There were moments when I thought that perhaps the house wouldn’t have been as big as we would have liked, but as it went up, it became clear the opposite was true – it’s absolutely huge!

“The size of the rooms are great, the layout is really open, the windows are large and let in so much light, the kitchen’s a good size and the lounge/dining room is massive!

“Because the bedrooms are so big, there were no arguments as to who got which one. It’s such a relief to see Joshua and Cameron have their own bedrooms, they absolutely love them, as does Molly.

“Andrew and I also have the luxury of an en-suite bathroom, plus a balcony – we can’t believe it!”

Visitors to The Meadows can take a tour of the impressive ‘Poppy’ showhome, which has been decorated in tranquil neutral shades of taupe, creams and white.

At the heart of this contemporary home is the spacious lounge/dining room, opening through French doors to the private rear garden, while a contemporary fitted kitchen and a handy guest cloakroom are also located off the bright and airy entrance hallway.

Upstairs, the landing leads to a spacious master bedroom with en-suite shower room and an attractive private balcony, plus three further good-sized bedrooms and a main bathroom.

The ‘Poppy’ housetype, which is priced from just £181,995, also includes two parking spaces.

Alternatively, a range of highly desirable eco-friendly homes is available to buy now at The Meadows, including two-bedroom starter homes priced from just £131,995, three-bedroom family-size houses starting from as little as £149,995 and spacious four-bedroom designs from only £164,995.

The Meadows forms part of the wider Telford Millennium Village, an innovative development created in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency and the borough of Telford & Wrekin.

The settlement is designed to be sustainable, ensuring it will include safe places for children to play, a new school, a community centre and fantastic public transport links. Planners were also tasked with giving as much thought to the needs of pedestrians and cyclists, as car-users.

Wildlife habitats and green spaces are protected, which is great news for the resident population of common lizards, bats, badgers and birds, and the community also benefits from public footpaths criss-crossing picturesque meadows, a natural meeting area and an impressive monkey puzzle tree, which serves as a wonderful focal point for the development.

The Meadows is ideally placed to take advantage of the region’s travel network, with junction 6 of the M54 close by, for quick links to the M6 and M6 Toll to Staffordshire and Birmingham and the A5 for Shrewsbury. Regular direct rail services operate from three stations in the town to Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury, Birmingham New Street and London Marylebone.

The Telford Shopping Centre boasts more than 150 stores including House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer and Debenhams, along with enticing cafes, bars and restaurants, while for entertainment and leisure, Oakengate Theatre, Telford Ice Rink, Telford Ski Centre and a multi-screen cinema are located within easy reach of the development.

Meanwhile, the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge lies just a few miles out of town amid Shropshire’s splendid countryside, while beautiful mid-Wales and Snowdonia National Park are only a short drive away.

Parents will appreciate the abundance of good schools nearby, including the high-performing Thomas Telford School and the innovative £70 million Hadley Learning Community.

The showhomes and Sales and Marketing Suite at The Meadows, located off Holyhead Road, Telford, TF1 5BF, are open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm. Alternatively, visit taylorwimpey.co.uk.
