Buy new homes in Stone Cross and help a local charity

Taylor Wimpey, the leading housebuilder behind the Millers Keep development of new homes for sale in Stone Cross, is supporting the restoration of an historic windmill in the area.
Property-seekers who make their home at Taylor Wimpey’s Miller’s Keep development of new build homes in Stone Cross will also be helping to preserve a historical local landmark.
The leading housebuilder has pledged to donate £200 to the charity which owns the Stone Cross Windmill each time a home-buyer reserves a property for sale in Stone Cross at Millers Keep.
With 13 homes remaining for sale at this exclusive development of just 24 houses for sale in Stone Cross, the Stone Cross Mill Trust stands to receive £2,600 through Taylor Wimpey’s Community Cashback scheme to boost the vital refurbishment of the 136-year-old Windmill.
“We are a very small charity, made up of volunteers, and with no guaranteed funding, so this size of donation means a lot to us,” says Trust Secretary Hazel Picton.
“The Windmill is in urgent need of repairs which have ended up costing more than we had anticipated.
“The donation means we are able to carry on with the repairs, and we are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their help.”
Built in 1875, the Grade II-listed windmill in Beggars Lane provides an important physical link to the area’s industrial heritage.
Visitors can take guided tours of the building, which also houses a heritage centre, free of charge, and enjoy cream teas (by appointment), which include delicious scones and cakes made from flour produced by the windmill.
A popular destination for local groups and schools, the Windmill also provides an unusual venue for a handful of annual events including a harvest festival and a Christmas carol service.
Fiona Creed, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South West Thames, says: “We are pleased to be able to help out such a dedicated group of volunteers who are doing an incredible job of keeping the Stone Cross Windmill in full working order.”
Prices for a new home at Millers Keep start from as little as £186,995 for a two-bedroom coach house-style apartment, just £209,995 for a two-bedroom starter home and only £229,995 for a three-bedroom house.
