Dr Bernd Pischetsrieder presents Phaeton to Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict XVI has been presented with a specially equipped Phaeton by the Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, Dr. Bernd Pischetsrieder.

‘It is a particular honour for us to have the privilege of providing Pope Benedict XVI with a fitting limousine,’ said Pischetsrieder during the presentation in the Vatican City on Wednesday.

The extended wheelbase version of the Volkswagen Phaeton is finished in black and is powered by a 6.0-litre W12 engine with 450 bhp. The limousine has been specially equipped to meet the comfort, privacy and security requirements of the Holy Father.
