Gekko opts for “motivational” Golfs to meet new Epson contract

2nd July 2007 Print
Field marketing agency Gekko has ordered a batch of 14 Golfs and a Passat for its sales team to meet a new contract with printer specialist Epson because of the motivational qualities of the new cars.

The Newbury-based company has ordered the new cars to supplement its current fleet of 32 vehicles from Volkswagen Group Leasing on 24-month, full maintenance leases. They will be used by the new Epson sales team to visit retailers and resellers all around the UK promoting the printer specialists’ range of products.

Gekko opted for Volkswagen Group Leasing because of its ”excellent service and very competitive rates,” said managing director Dan Todaro.

“We have had a strong relationship with Volkswagen for the last five years because of the reliability of its products, and decided on Golf Sport 1.9TDI models for our new Epson sales team because of the motivational qualities of the vehicles, and because of the very attractive rates from Volkswagen Group Leasing,” he said.

Although the sales team has no say in the choice of vehicles, Todaro does not expect any problems from staff with the vehicles. ”These are aspirational cars which are very well equipped and portray just the right image when we go to see Epson customers or prospects,” he added.

Tim Johnson, Head of Sales at Volkswagen Group Leasing, said: “We are delighted to be given this opportunity to meet the mobility needs of Gekko’s sales team in fulfilling its new Epson contract, and that they have selected Volkswagen product to help them do this.”

The vehicles are being supplied by Volkswagen retailer Ridgeway of Newbury.
