Fourteen months after unveiling the foundation stone, local MP Sir Alan Haselhurst is returning to perform the official opening of the area’s newest care home.

The first residents have already moved into the Moat House, on the fringes of Great Dunmow and will be on hand to welcome Sir Alan to their new home on Friday, 2nd December.

The 60 bed state of the art care home represents a multi million pound investment in the area by national operator Retirement Villages Ltd. The building replaces the former converted rectory of the same name on the same site.

Employment opportunities for carers, nurses and support staff have been created by the opening of the Moat House, and there will be more job opportunities as new residents move in.

The care home has 60 en suite bedrooms, split into four suites, each with communal facilities and a team of dedicated staff. Oak Suite provides nursing care, Willow Suite offers highly specialised dementia nursing, Maple Suite is for those who need a level of care in a home from home environment and Aspen Suite is for those living with dementia.

Sir Alan will be taken on a tour of the new home, before unveiling a plaque and spending time talking to residents and staff.

Village Manager Deborah Stevenson said: “We are delighted that Sir Alan has agreed to come back and open the new Moat House. Both residents and staff are thrilled with our new home and we can’t wait to show it off at the official opening.”
