Volkswagen seeks out top retailer staff in pursuit of excellence

Each of Volkswagen UK’s 254 retailers were invited to participate in the event, with all Service Advisors as well as Master Technicians fighting it out to gain the chance to represent the UK in the World Final in Wolfsburg, the company’s international headquarters in Germany early next month.
Two preliminary rounds were held consisting of 120 on-line questions, with the top performers then selected. Competition was fierce and only the top 100 were selected to go though to round two.
The top ten Service Advisors and the top ten Master Technicians from round two were invited to take part in the UK final.
The top 20 finalists were then treated to an evening gala dinner event at Horwood House in Buckinghamshire to enable them to meet the other finalists and celebrate their success in achieving a place in the UK final.
On Tuesday 2nd October, the Service Qualification World Championship UK Final then took place, with Master Technicians and Service Advisors competing in a selection of practical skills-based assessments designed to ensure they were tested to their limits.
At the end of the day, the winners were selected and trophies awarded by Alison Jones, Head of Volkswagen Customer Services and Aftersales, and Peter Butler, Volkswagen Academy Manager.
Alison Jones commented: ‘We would like to congratulate all our service staff who took part in this challenge and of course the winners. It has given me great pleasure to see the high standards demonstrated by our staff. Their hard work and commitment to excellence guarantees Volkswagen customers the highest levels of workmanship.
I’d also like to wish the winners the very best of luck for the international finals next month.’
