The ultimate gift ideas app?

With Christmas just around the corner, and the need to think of gift ideas for everyone from your brother-in-law to great auntie Joan, wouldn't it be great if there was an app for your iphone or ipad that could give you not only relevant present suggestions but even suggest where to buy them? Well, your prayers have been answered - just head to the itunes app store and download the free GiftGen app.

GiftGen is an easy to use gift suggestion app that has a huge database of gift ideas, which you access by selecting the age and gender of the person you are buying a gift for, a character type, and how much you want to spend. You then click ‘Search High St.’ or ‘Search Online’ to get a list of relevant gift ideas and suggestion of websites or high street shops where you could find them.

Mark Rowe, co-creator of GiftGen comments "We wanted to get plenty of feedback from friends, relatives and colleagues before promoting the fact that we have an iphone and ipad app. We're now on version 1.0.3, which we are very happy with and are now ready to shout about it!"

The app version has additional features not present in the web version of GiftGen. The first of these is the ability to save lists locally on the phone, and give them titles. This means you can keep a list, and record who it's for. For example - 'jim 50th' or 'sarah leaving presents'. Another app only feature is one-click emailing of lists, which is particularly useful if you are buying a gift not just from you but from you and your partner, buddies or work colleagues. You can then get their input and feedback on which ideas they think are the best. It's also useful if you want to run the list by others, to help make sure you don't buy the same thing as someone else.

Mike Orton, also co-creator said "Our mission is to relieve the stress of gift buying as much as possible, and the iphone and ipad app is yet another step in that direction."

This app is perfect for when you’re on the train or bus into town, or sitting in a café during your shopping trip when you just can't think of anything to buy uncle Jim.
