Crest Nicholson has added to its trophy cabinet after being crowned Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year – with Park Central in Birmingham shortlisted as the ‘Best Regeneration Project’.

The popular developer received the recognition at this year’s Housebuilder Awards in honour of Crest Nicholson’s on-going commitment to sustainable development, along with its ability to successfully balance economic, environmental and social considerations to deliver genuinely sustainable mixed-use communities.

Situated off Bath Row in the heart of the city centre, Park Central is nearly two thirds of the way through a 12 year build programme and has been widely credited throughout the UK property industry as an exemplar of city centre regeneration and sustainable development.

Ruth Williams, sales manager at Park Central said: “We are over the moon that Crest Nicholson has been named Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year and equally delighted that our Park Central development in Birmingham received such high recognition. All of our regeneration schemes focus strongly on breathing new life into existing areas and building contemporary, cosmopolitan communities that will be as popular in 50 years’ time as they are today. Park Central is attracting purchasers of all ages who want to experience city centre living at its best and that is something which we are immensely proud of.”

Now in its seventh year the Housebuilder Awards, delivered in association with the National House-building Council and the Home Builders Federation, offer a showcase of best practice ideas and technology. They aim to recognise companies which are demonstrating a real commitment to innovation in the house building industry, with the winners all having being recognised for driving forward quality in the delivery of new homes.

Ruth continues: “Our popular purchaser schemes, including EasyBuy and FirstBuy, are enabling many young people to purchase their first homes with us and this is helping to ensure Park Central delivers communities across the generations. Many potential first time buyers are being put off exploring purchasing their first home by negative press articles but I would urge those currently in rented properties or living with their parents to come and talk to the Park Central sales team about the many different ways in which we can help them get onto the property ladder sooner than they think.”

Statistics recently released by Rightmove.co.uk state that 45 per cent of first time buyers are now more likely to get on the housing ladder thanks to the Government’s FirstBuy scheme.

Park Central is a national award winning residential development. Lower Parkside, the latest phase of the development, offers a range of one and two-bedroom apartments alongside highly exclusive two and three-bedroom freehold townhouses.
