Buyers crossing the bridge to new homes with FirstBuy at Brunel View

29th November 2011 Print

Owning the perfect new home is now easier than ever for first time buyers across the region – thanks to a special event organised by South West Homes.

The free event, held at Plymouth Guildhall over the weekend, was attended by a large number of buyers looking to enter the property market for the first time.

And a team of experts from Barratt was on-hand to provide advice on all aspects of the buying process – including the schemes on offer to help those wishing to own their own homes.

“The affordable housing event was a huge success,” said Barratt sales manager, Nicki Daniel. “Would-be buyers were keen to hear more about the homes available at our exciting new Brunel View development in Plymouth.

“And many were surprised by how easy it can be to enter the property market. The Barratt team was delighted to be able to help.”

Brunel View offers a selection of stylish selection of two and three bedroom homes – perfect for first time buyers. And the development is ideal for those wishing to become homeowners – even though many are put off by the task of securing the finances needed to fund such a venture.

“The door may seem firmly shut for some buyers. But that really isn’t the case,” added Nicki. “It is very possible to buy a first home at Brunel View – even in tough financial times.

“There are schemes in place to help people climb onto the property ladder. And this recent event gave our team an excellent chance to talk about FirstBuy.”

Announced by the Chancellor in the Budget earlier this year, FirstBuy is funded by the Homes & Communities Agency and provides buyers with a route to home ownership at the lowest possible cost – with the lowest possible deposit.

“This means buyers can secure a beautifully-designed two bedroom home here at Brunel View for £101,042 – with a deposit of just £5,318,” said Nicki.

Under FirstBuy, qualifying buyers are offered a loan of up to 20 per cent of the price of the property, jointly funded by Barratt and the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency.

The buyers then only have to find the remaining 80 per cent of the price themselves with the mortgage and deposit.

Taking its name from the site’s location, just two miles from the Tamar Bridge, Brunel View is perfect for those seeking stylish new homes within a relaxed setting but also close to local amenities and shopping.

It is also just a few minutes away from the A38 – providing easy access to Plymouth airport, Exeter and West Cornwall.
