Family ditch the DIY and move to a new home

Tired of ongoing repairs and the cost of running their old home, the Moore family moved to a brand new home that’s easy to maintain and efficient to run.
They’ve left behind their draughty old home in Cleethorpes for a stylish new Redrow home full of family-friendly features at Fox’s Fold in Barton upon Humber,
Dad Mark explained: “We decided we wanted to buy a brand new home because the one we were living in was old and we couldn’t be doing with repairs and maintenance
“Because we have a young family we wanted to upsize from the semi-detached home we were living in and the four-bedroom Ruthin was ideal for us. We love the traditional exterior, spacious layout and the garden.”
Mark added: “Redrow offered us a deal that meant we could move to a brand new home complete with carpets and curtains. It’s perfect. Some people may be interested in doing an older property up but it’s a waste of time when you can buy somewhere that’s 99% complete – you just need to put your own stamp on it.”
Mark, wife Helen and children Jacob and India were able to personalise their new home by choosing features such as the finish of the kitchen cabinets and work surfaces and the bathroom tiles.
“The specification is fantastic. For the first month it was like living in a hotel because the standard is so high. It’s pitched just right without being too bespoke,” Mark commented.
Like all new Redrow homes, theirs boasts a well equipped kitchen with integrated top brand name appliances including microwave, oven and fridge freezer; while the bathroom and en-suite to master bedroom enjoy quality fixtures and fittings.
Thanks to double glazing and an energy efficient boiler it’s more economical to run than an older property.
“When we were selling our old house, the valuer said the boiler was old and could do with being upgraded. It was a big factor and we notice it now because the boiler in our new home is quieter and more efficient and because the house is well insulated there are fewer drafts,” Mark said.
It’s not just the quality of their new home that impressed the Moores – they were also bowled over by the level of customer care.
“We were apprehensive at first, but Redrow are really focused on customer service and appreciate that it’s a major transaction. Considering it was a big step, it was a pleasure,” Mark added. “We would definitely recommend Redrow.”
Current availability at Fox’s Fold includes a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes. Prices start from £104,999 with incentives including HomeBuy Direct and part exchange available to help get people moving.
