Holidaymakers say the funniest things

1st December 2011 Print

Leading Holiday Home provider Perfect Getaways has released details of the most bizarre requests made by holiday makers booking accommodation and the strangest items left behind in holiday homes.

Top Five Most Bizarre Requests

1. A toupee stand
- The holidaymaker complained when the owner didn’t have one that every respectable beach house should have one.

2. Hot water bottles in the villa
- This was a request made in Costa Blanca for the last two weeks in July where the outside temperature was 24 degrees...at night!

3. A pot for the poo
- After speaking to the holidaymakers the owner determined it was a potty they wanted for their three year old child.

4. Are clothes compulsory?
- The owner advised that public nudity was banned in Barbados although they were ok to walk around naked in the property. The holidaymakers requested that as the owner lived on site they would expect her to comply with their (none) dress code in the property.

5. A donkey to ride a pregnant bride up a long wooden platform
- The owner arranged this and is glad to report the wedding went off without any hitches – or early deliveries.

Top Five Strangest Items Left
1. Two pet rabbits alongside two violins
- The renters left early after apparently having an argument. The owners are still looking after the pets now.

2. A set of surgeon’s scalpels
- The owners carefully checked every part of the property to make sure there were no body remains anywhere.

3. A full roasted pig with head and legs still fully intact
- This was left on the breakfast bar.

4. A bride dress screwed up in a ball left in the master bedroom wardrobe
- The owners contacted the holidaymaker to let her know she had ‘accidentally’ left the most important piece of clothing she would ever wear. The lady replied saying she didn’t want it.

5. A whip found on the top shelf of the main bedroom wardrobe (along with other items)
- The owner naturally thought the visitors were fans of pony trekking.

David Palmer, Managing Director of Perfect Getaways Ltd, commented ‘Our owners deal with all sorts of weird and wonderful requests. What is especially pleasing is the length that our owners go to in order to accommodate their guests. That is a major credit to owners of holiday homes who let out their pride and joy and is one of the reasons why booking directly with the owner is so popular with UK holidaymakers.’
