Collaboration raises Shakespeare Country’s profile for TV & Film
Shakespeare Country, the private tourism body responsible for promoting South/Mid Warwickshire & The Cotswolds has announced an exciting new collaboration with Film Warwickshire. Both organisations will work together in promoting the destination, its attractions and iconic hotel buildings to the film, TV and photographic industries. The collaboration has numerous benefits for members, not only presenting an opportunity to showcase locations, enhancing commercial income but also the profile of the region. Hotels will also benefit in accommodating film crews during their stay and the region will see a boost to its local tourism economy.
Shakespeare Country and its attractions have always proved a popular destination for film and TV locations. The Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick was used to film the Shakespeare Code episode of Dr Who watched by 7.23 million viewers and Compton Verney was the setting for some of the scenes in Gambit featuring Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz and Alan Rickman. Leamington Spa was used in the popular sitcom Keeping Up Appearances and more recently Clarendon Square doubled for Eaton Place in Upstairs Downstairs.
Air Atlantique's DC6 in Coventry was used in the James Bond film Casino Royale, Charlecote Park was recently the setting for the BBC programme Antiques Roadshow and The Falstaff Experience in Stratford-upon-Avon was used in the paranormal reality TV series - Most Haunted Live.
Film Warwickshire was set up by one of the UK's leading location promotion and management companies to deliver a wide range of public/private sector locations for use by the film, TV and photographic industry. The service provides advice, support and access to media producers regionally, nationally and internationally and provides a promotional and management service to location owners. Locations are extensively photographed and promoted via newsletters to location managers and producers across the country.
