Polperro gets into the spirit of Christmas!

The annual Christmas lights switch on will take place in Polperro, Cornwall on Saturday 10 December and is set to be another popular event featuring a Christmas market, Christmas Fun Run & live music. Attended by hundreds of visitors, the event is sure to get everyone in the festive mood!

Visitors to the picturesque fishing village can wander around a Christmas market which will take place on Big Green from 1pm onwards. Featuring stalls selling crafts and handmade Christmas decorations, the market is the perfect place to buy Christmas presents.

Polperro’s first Christmas Fun Run will take place at 2pm. Anyone can dress up as a Christmas or Panto character to raise funds for their favourite cause! Those taking part will travel on a circular route around the village and is suitable for all ages. A small admin fee of £1 for children and £2 for adults will be charged.

Activities on Big Green will take place from 4pm with stalls selling Mulled wine, hot Chestnuts, lights novelties and a Tombola. Father Christmas will also be making a guest appearance and handing out presents to well behaved children! The Mount Charles Band will entertain the crowds with Christmas music whilst the switch on of the lights will take place at 6pm by this year’s Festival Lord Mayor, Tony White. Children from Polperro Primary School will also delight everyone with readings and carol singing.

The Polperro Grand Draw will take place at The Old Mill House Inn on Wednesday 28 December. Tickets for the draw will be available to purchase on Saturday and from Roberts Pharmacy, Polperro Newsagents and the Post Office. Tickets for the draw are just £1 each and people could have the chance of winning some fantastic prizes including £250 cash, a Wii Sports pack, £50 Next voucher plus holiday breaks, meals for two, bottles of wine and fragrances!
