The splendid four-star Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa, located on the outskirts of Chester, has unveiled a stunning Asian Sensory Garden, a breathtaking natural space designed to enhance the experience enjoyed by guests at the renowned Cheshire hotel and Spa by Kasia.

More than half an acre in size, the Japanese inspired garden has taken five months to complete at a cost of £300,000, and whilst due to open fully in spring 2012, guests are already enjoying the delights the Asian Sensory Garden has to offer. Taking a step outside, they discover a haven of tranquillity, with spectacular views across the exquisite garden to the hills and mountains of North Wales.

This new addition to Spa by Kasia cements the retreat’s position as one of most exclusive spa offerings in Cheshire, boasting a unique couples VIP suite, a traditional Turkish Hamman and Arabian Rasul; along with the superb leisure facilities and the relaxing Spa Eatery. A wide range of beauty and relaxation treatments are on offer including massages, facials and many more signature treatments from leading beauty houses Elemis, Decléor, and Clarins.

Whilst serene and soothing, the Asian Sensory Garden is a visual feast. A stunning six-foot wide waterfall cascades majestically into one of two interconnected pools, with the adjoining stream bridged by a splendid Japanese style bridge. A magnificent Tea House where spa guests can enjoy tea ceremonies will take pride of place in a corner of the garden, whilst an eight-metre wide pond, aerated by a calming whirlpool, offers sanctuary to more than 50 beautifully vibrant Koi Carp.

Designed to provide interest and colour all year round, the garden is home to a host of handsome evergreen trees, shrubs and other perennials, originating from Japan and the Far East. The abundant camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons offer colour during spring; whilst fragrant hostas, scented jasmine and coloured grasses provide interest through summer. Statuesque Japanese maple trees reaching three metres in height, plentiful bamboos, and fragrant flowering archways, create points of interest throughout the garden. Subtle yet effective lighting ensures the garden can be appreciated well into the evening; gentle flood lights and strategically placed lights highlight individual plants and features after dusk.

Spa director Amy Nelson comments: “Whilst the idea and design for the Asian Sensory Garden came originally from our Chairman Harold Nelson, the creation has been a real team effort. Our team of gardeners, led by Head Gardener Mike Kozyra, planted the entire garden with meticulous attention to detail. They have carefully considered every aspect of the spa guest experience including the height of plants and flowering time to create the optimum visual impact. The garden further enhances our spa offering, extending our wonderful haven of tranquillity into a beautiful outside space, and bringing something new and exciting for our guests.”

To ensure peace and tranquillity, the Asian Sensory Garden is exclusive to guests of Spa by Kasia between 12noon and 3pm. Hotel guests are able to enjoy the delights of the Asian Sensory Garden at certain times of the day and bridal parties can arrange to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings of the Asian Sensory Garden for wedding photographs.
