Mortgage success helps Taylor Wimpey buyers make property moves

Taylor Wimpey in Scotland has an incredible record of getting buyers on the move to their dream home – whether it’s their first step into the property market, or a move up or down the property ladder. Latest figures from Taylor Wimpey in Scotland show that overall 92%* of mortgage applications made by their clients are successful, and that 90%** of first time buyers get the green light on their mortgage application after being pre-qualified by an Independent Financial Advisor.
During the month of January, Taylor Wimpey in Scotland would like to encourage all buyers – whether first time or second time - to pop into any of its 35 developments of new homes across the country to find out just how helpful the team can be. From free access to Independent Financial Advisors, to a team of excellent sales consultants who can take buyers through the whole process of buying a new home – Taylor Wimpey is keen to dispel some of the myths surrounding the difficulty of getting on the property ladder and provide easy access to free expert advice to anyone thinking about getting on the move to a new home.
A recent report produced by the National Centre for Social Research on behalf of Halifax highlighted some of the misconceptions young people hold about buying their first home. Despite 79% believing that property is still a good investment for the future, 92% of respondents said they thought it was hard for first time buyers to get a mortgage. In fact, 9 out of 10 mortgage applications made through Taylor Wimpey’s IFAs are accepted. The research also revealed that 84% of people believe banks do not want to lend to them and 55% are scared of being turned down. However, just 9% of people who believe they have little chance of buying a home have sought professional advice.
Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, comments: “An Independent Financial Advisor, or IFA, is uniquely positioned to guide both first time and second time buyers through the mortgage process. They can use their expert knowledge to ensure that all the information required is gathered and checked before an application is made and that the right mortgage product is selected dependent on the applicant’s individual circumstances.
“First time buyers are understandably cautious about taking the big step of getting on the property ladder, and buyers with property to sell have concerns about being able to make a further move. However, there appears to be levels of fear and pessimism, particularly when it comes to getting a mortgage, not representative of the true state of what we’ve seen in the Scottish market. Through educating buyers and offering free, impartial advice, we aim to demonstrate that owning a property is achievable and makes a sound, long-term investment.”
Karen Armstrong, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland adds: “At Taylor Wimpey in Scotland we do have an impressive success rate of getting our buyers’ mortgage applications passed, and during the month of January, we’d like to encourage buyers to visit our developments so we can provide all the information, advice and expert tips needed for people to make an informed decision about making a move to a new home.
“And as an added incentive anyone reserving a property by 31 January, 2012 can take advantage of a £99 reservation fee, as well as a whole host of star-buy deals on selected plots. And for missives concluded within 28 days clients will receive £500 worth of holiday vouchers.”
