Buyers choose new homes over old

When Tracy and Mark Chambers, both 30 years of age, first saw the plans for Bloor Homes development, Scholars Grange in Duston, they both knew that a new build was what they wanted. Previously renting they were desperate to own their own home.
Tracy, who has lived all her life in the area, wanted to upgrade their rented property to a home that didn’t need refurbishment or immediate re-decoration. They just didn’t have the funds to cover that sort of work, so a new build was the obvious decision.
“I knew the site for Scholars Grange really well as it was the site for my old school” comments Tracy, “and Bloor Homes have managed to blend their development into the original surroundings really well with the existing road leading into the new one”.
Choosing the design of home was pretty easy for them, they both knew what they wanted and they are now the proud owners of The Thursley, a 3 bedroom semi-detached property.
“We wanted a house where the living room backed onto the garden. In our previous house the kitchen was at the back so we never really enjoyed the outside space as we couldn’t sit and relax looking out onto the garden. So when we saw the plans for The Thursley we knew it was what we wanted. In addition we have a very private and secluded garden with high fencing all the way round”. She adds “having an ensuite and family bathroom plus a downstairs cloakroom is just wonderful especially when family and friends come to visit”
Internally they were able to choose the kitchen cabinets, tiling and carpets, “Because we bought so early on, the Sales Team made is so easy for us. They were amazing and it was a delight to be able to choose colours and styles to suit us. They didn’t mind us always going in to enquire how things were progressing, they were very patient”, smiles Tracy.
Located just outside Northampton, Duston is a very popular area and is the location for Scholars Grange a development of 3 and 4 bedroom homes ranging in price from £173,950 to £269,950.
“I am surrounded by family and friends and as I work as a Receptionist in Daventry it only takes me 20 minutes to drive into work. Mark has to do a lot more travelling with his work but because of our proximity to major transport links it does make it a lot easier” concludes Tracy.
Nearby Sixfields can also boast a nine screen cinema, fitness and wellbeing centre as well as a good range of well known shops restaurants and bars. With its easy access to the M1 via junctions 15 and 16, Northampton train station within a 3 mile radius and an established bus route to the town centre and surrounding areas, it is a popular destination.
For families there are schools a plenty with a wide range of primary and secondary schools in the vicinity and in addition a college that specialises in Business & Enterprise and Sciences – Duston School.
