Santa Pod puts on best ever show for Autosport 2012

Santa Pod Raceway, the home of European drag racing, has announced its finest ever showcar line-up for next year’s Autosport International show at the NEC in Birmingham. Almost 40,000 (!!) horsepower’s worth of eclectic race and show cars will be at the world-renowned show in January in the Engineering Hall.
Between the 14th and 15th of January 2012, The Northamptonshire venue will be taking over a large part of the UK’s most popular motorsport show to showcase some of the most spectacular and powerful machinery in European motorsport. Almost every class and level is represented, from the sublime Top Fuel car of Chris Andrews to the frankly ridiculous Crusher Monster Truck, which will thankfully be static. Way too much expensive race machinery present to let that thing loose! Other highlights include the Fireforce Jet Car of Martin Hill, John Spuffard’s Funny Car chassis and the insane 7 second Rolls Royce of Matt Wright. Paige Wheeler’s Junior Dragster represents the stars of tomorrow and the stunning Corvette of Nigel Payne tips its Big Block Chevy hat to fans of transatlantic quarter milers.
As well as having Santa Pod’s team on hand to advise on the venue’s 2012 events, several of the sport’s star drivers will be making an appearance throughout the weekend to meet their fans, sign a few autographs – and who knows? maybe let you in on a few of their speed secrets at the same time.
A full list of the cars present is shown below. So do make sure you visit the team and enjoy a rare chance to see these cars at a standstill. Much easier to get a picture here than at 300+mph!
