Santander has this week launched a brand new Mobile Banking service for customers using any mobile phone or handheld device with Internet access which features many of the most popular features of Santander’s Online Banking service available on desktop devices.

Also launched this week is an App developed specifically for the iPhone and iPad which will also provide the same secure service for banking on the go, including a helpful single platform where customers can see information for all their Santander current accounts, savings and credit cards in one place.  This is available now to download free from the App Store.

Once customers have subscribed to Online Banking using a desktop or laptop, they will have access to a whole range of services via their mobile phone.

New features for customers

Pay bills or make other payments to existing payees set up using Online Banking at a desktop or laptop
Make credit card payments
Move money between accounts
View all accounts in one place including credit cards
View, amend or cancel any pending payments and transfers
Secure messaging service so customers can contact Santander securely through the online bank with any questions about service
Set up text message or email alerts to let customers know when a payment has been made into their account or they are reaching a certain level (scheduled for January 2012).

Online Banking Guarantee

Santander’s Online Banking Guarantee also applies to customers using Mobile Banking, (via any Internet enabled phones) and this confirms that in the unlikely event funds are taken from a customer’s account without permission, Santander will pay back any loss incurred from fraud, up to the value of the amount fraudulently taken.

Account servicing

In addition, customers will be able to view two years’ transaction history, build a seven-year library of their statements in digital form and transfer money between their Santander accounts with a quick transfer tool.

Charlotte Hogg, retail director at Santander, said: “We want to make banking with Santander as easy and convenient as possible for our customers, wherever they are in the world, and we’ve spent considerable time developing our mobile banking service and iPhone and iPad app with this in mind.  Customers will be able to do almost as much on their mobile phone as they can with our full online banking service and in the coming months we expect to be able to provide an even greater range of mobile services for customers.”
