We would pay off our debts not splash the cash with a £1m win

Paying off the mortgage or debts is the priority over splashing out on an expensive car, or a luxurious holiday in these uncertain economic times, according to a new survey. Respondents were asked what they were most likely to do first in the event of winning a £1 million jackpot.
To commemorate their successful Facebook competition to win a Millionaire’s Lifestyle for a day, new online casino site luckyvegas77.com asked 500 people what was the first thing they would do if they won £1 million – and almost 50% of those questioned said they would pay off their mortgage and personal debts.
The survey conducted by OnePoll made it clear that debts and mortgage payments seem to be the first concern of cash-strapped potential millionaires in Britain. Only 19% of those who took part in the survey said they would resign from their job in the event of a £1 million win.
This survey also highlights different attitudes across the UK.
Scots are more likely to go on holiday before paying off their debts
East Anglians, East Midlanders and Scots are least likely to resign from their jobs
People from Yorkshire and Humber are most likely to say a swift goodbye to the boss!
More women than men say they need more than £2m to consider giving up their jobs.
And it seems that women are also less selfish: The panel was also asked if they would share their winnings. Only 2% of women said they would keep the total jackpot to themselves, whereas 13% of men said they wouldn’t be willing to share the cash they had won.
