CertiVox unveils PrivateSky SIX Platform

CertiVox, an information security company, has unveiled a revolutionary breakthrough in information security: PrivateSky Secure Information Exchange (SIX) platform. The new service provides fast and easy-to-use protection for email, files and other information sent via the cloud, through a unique two-factor authentication process and a sophisticated, certificateless encryption platform.

This first-of-its-kind encryption process is easily activated by a click of a button from within Outlook, a web browser or via any browser-based application on a PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone. It is a one-click solution where both encryption and decryption are securely completed with absolutely no disruption to a user's workflow, setting it apart from other Internet security products.

"SIX is a significant leap forward in information security that empowers individuals, businesses and their partners and customers with easy-to-use tools to take control of their data and protect their online exchanges and transactions from being compromised," says CertiVox CEO Brian Spector. "By parsing out the code to obfuscate and secure data, PrivateSky separates control of encryption keys from the data in transit. These Incognito Keys are secured even from CertiVox's access, which means that absolutely no one can read or access a user's CertiVox-encrypted file except for the intended recipient of that file.

"This type of security is especially important for companies and industries that adhere to strict regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA."

While enterprises and governments want to leverage the benefits of cloud services, they are still searching for security solutions that simply and economically solve the risks and issues with using the cloud today. These potential risks include:

Violating privacy laws: "Encrypted and secured" hosting, storage and some email service providers routinely access and share clients' private records because current methods allow these companies the control of the encryption keys that lock and unlock their user's data.

Violating regulatory requirements: Security loopholes, complex user agreements and deficient laws to govern the transfer of information through the cloud are leading to some companies' unintentional breach of ethical and legal responsibilities. By trying to take advantage of the ease and flexibility of cloud computing, for example in online deal rooms, companies don't fully realise that those types of transactions can be seen by others in the cloud.

Violating security and user agreements: Cloud storage vendors can de-dupe user files to save on storage and operating costs, unbeknownst to their clients. Most online storage service providers have their data programmatically scanned, analysed and, if there is another identical copy of that data stored, can delete like-files, removing the ability to provide an accurate audit log of information.

CertiVox's PrivateSky SIX platform solves these legal, regulatory and ethical challenges. It is the world's first technology built to truly protect enterprises and computer users everywhere from having their data compromised, and it works for all things Internet. The PrivateSky SIX platform:

Uses breakthrough Incognito Keys and certificateless encryption technology to provide the only totally secure information exchange between all users on the market today for even very large files, eliminating the compliance concerns that surround cloud computing.

Departs from other products because the user encrypts his or her information right from the start at the source and retains complete control over his or her encryption keys at all times. This means cloud storage service providers and managed file transfer services can no longer see or access their clients' sensitive information, an issue that has been widely reported on in the media.

Separates the encryption keys from the data while in transit which ensures that only the intended recipients can access encrypted information. Not even CertiVox has access to the encrypted data or the encryption keys – a technical breakthrough in online security and an industry first.

Offers significant and far-reaching solutions for industries and governments that adhere to strict regulatory and privacy requirements, such as HIPAA.

"The reality is that even with SSL and https client encryption, messages are still generally sent via the Internet in plain text. Access to other people's data is still possible despite some of the best security that companies have been able to offer to date. This is a fundamental issue that experts have been trying to solve in a usable way for years," says Julian Dyer, Chief Technology Officer, Cobweb Solutions Limited.

As a leading cloud messaging provider providing services to small and medium sized businesses in the UK, Cobweb is partnering with CertiVox to offer the PrivateSky SIX platform for its customers, a move Dyer calls "critical" for cloud adoption. "With PrivateSky SIX, it's finally safe to do business through the cloud. We can now guarantee a secure platform that allows our customers to easily secure their messaging and safely transfer even their largest files.”

Complicated technology that is easy to use; Try it for free
Despite the complexity of the elliptic curve cryptography technology behind it, PrivateSky SIX was developed for simplicity. Because it is browser-based, users don't have to rely on certificates, passwords or lengthy installations to use the technology – the same encryption key management protocols used by both the U.S. and UK militaries for battlefield communication deployments.

"We developed PrivateSky SIX so that enterprises, governments and computer users everywhere could arm themselves in this digital age," adds Spector. "Our platform enables users to remain private in a very public and often watchful online world, yet still take advantage of all that the cloud has to offer. We're thrilled to be on the leading-edge of this important online security revolution."

CertiVox is offering a complimentary beta of the PrivateSky SIX portal starting in February. Details and sign up at privatesky.me.
