Travel companies seeking a customisable and flexible route to gain a mobile presence in the App stores now have a cost effective solution from Off Exploring. Focussing on the needs of travel companies of all sizes, the new offering from the award winning firm will be presented at this year’s Travel Technology Show (7th-8th February 2012) at Earls Court. With affordable sub £1,000 entry level pricing, travel firms can offer their customers personalised services and localised information whilst also enabling them to create postcards, videos and blogs to share on Facebook, twitter and other social media channels.

Based upon a core platform developed in the UK, Off Exploring’s modular approach allows travel companies to quickly and affordably launch their own app to take advantage of the opportunities it opens to engage with customers before, during and after their trip. “This is a fully scalable app, ranging from a selection of simple modules such as weather forecast, information on local bars or restaurants, emergency contacts, exchange rates and a postcard service right through to amending an itinerary or hotel bookings and car hire,” says Doug Campbell, founder of Off Exploring. “The end result is an app that offers real value to customers, leading them to rely upon it and recommend it to others.”

According to Off Exploring, the value of the user generated content created with the app can be measured in the marked increase in web traffic it will deliver back to a travel firm’s site. “Our existing customers are seeing that single person’s upload via such an app can generate 1000’s of page views and 100’s of new visitors,” claims Campbell. “The posting of content or recommendations relevant to a trip, location or service significantly increases conversion, making this type of tool increasingly relevant to the travel sector.” Campbell suggests travel companies can use the app to their keep their brand and its partners’ services in front of its customers and their friends for longer periods than would otherwise be possible. “A ‘sticky’ app can become a powerful promotional tool that’s going to become increasingly popular with a more social media oriented customer base.”

In line with the cost effective initial set up, Off Exploring has designed the app to operate with minimal running fees that could be funded from incremental revenues generated via the app itself. Off Exploring will be previewing key aspects of the app at the Travel Technology 2012 at stand B32 with a planned release date of March 2012.
