Taylor Wimpey to bring new homes to Wem

10th February 2012 Print

Leading house builder Taylor Wimpey Midlands has agreed to purchase a five acre greenfield site in Wem, bringing much needed quality housing to Shropshire.

Taylor Wimpey’s vision for the development will see 35 new homes built at the site off Whitchurch Road. These homes will include a selection of three, four and five bedroom homes perfect for a range of house hunters, from first time buyers to growing families.

Outline planning consent for the residential dwellings is in place and Taylor Wimpey is expecting its detailed planning application to go to the council’s planning committee later this month, and the first collection of homes is hoped to commence this summer.

Anne Wallace, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: “We’re extremely excited to have acquired this land in Wem and we look forward to bringing yet another development of high quality new homes to the region. We appreciate the affinity the local community has with the area and will be making every effort to keep them informed of the plans to turn our development vision into reality.

“Due to the range and size of house types we will be offering at our Wem development and the fact that there are a number of excellent schools in the local vicinity we are expecting to appeal to growing and established families looking to move to the area.”
