Wolverhampton property is Lorraine’s ultimate gift

Lorraine Jones treated herself to a very special 40th birthday present when she snapped up her dream home at Buttercup Place, Taylor Wimpey’s development of houses for sale in Wolverhampton.
They say life begins at 40 – and that’s certainly the case for Lorraine Jones who will be celebrating her milestone year by moving into a brand new house at Taylor Wimpey’s Buttercup Place development of new homes for sale in Wolverhampton.
“I always said to myself that I wanted to have a big, new detached house by the time I’m 40 and now my dream’s coming true,” says Lorraine, who is the first homebuyer to reserve at the development of Wolverhampton houses for sale and is due to receive the keys to her four-bedroom ‘Chillbury’ home in August.
At one stage it looked as though Lorraine wouldn’t have had her birthday wish granted – as she wasn’t even in the market for property for sale in Wolverhampton.
“I’d had in my mind that I would be extending my house, but I couldn’t get permission for a conservatory,” she says.
“At around the same time, when I was driving I noticed a sign for Buttercup Place, and just decided to follow it as I was curious to see where it was and what was being built,” she says.
“I really liked what I found there and thought the ‘Chillbury’ offered a lot of house for a very reasonable price.”
Before making up her mind, though, Lorraine first had to seek approval from her eight-year-old son George.
“He thought it was great and when he said that, I knew it was the house for us,” says Lorraine, who’ll be moving in with George, her partner Craig Thoel (39) and Basil the dog – while Craig’s children will also have a bedroom each when they come to visit.
The location also gets the thumbs up from Lorraine, who knows Wolverhampton like the back of her hand thanks to the miles she clocked up on the road in her previous job as a district nurse.
“The beauty of the location is that it’s just over a mile-and-a-half from George’s school, Claregate Primary, which is an excellent school,” says Lorraine, who now works as a Tissue Viability Lead Nurse for The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust.
“Buttercup Place is also really convenient for getting to the M6, for when I need to go to Birmingham, and there’s plenty of local shops in nearby Fordhouses, plus a couple of supermarkets a quick drive away.
“It’s also well-placed for taking Basil out for a walk as the development is close to the canal and open fields.”
Lorraine elected to sidestep the hassle of a property chain by choosing to part exchange her old house for the ‘Chillbury’.
By using Part Exchange, Lorraine is free to relax in her own home until her new place is ready to move into, safe in the knowledge that Taylor Wimpey is the guaranteed buyer for her current property.
Part Exchange customers like Lorraine receive the market value of their existing property, based on the average of independent professional valuations, with the agreed sum deducted from the price of their brand new purchase.
“Part Exchange made life a whole lot easier,” says Lorraine.
“It took all the stress away of trying to find a buyer, which can take months and months. Everything was taken care of by Taylor Wimpey, and the deal was agreed really swiftly – it was all very simple.
“And, as I am buying off-plan, I have been able to choose things like flooring and finishes to make it feel like home when I move in.”
A wide selection of fabulous family-sized detached houses is available to buy at Buttercup Place, with three-bedroom homes priced from as little as £189,995 and four-bedroom designs from only £197,995.
For example, the four-bedroom ‘Chillbury’, similar to the one reserved by Lorraine, is priced from £197,995, and boasts a generous lounge, a kitchen/dining room opening through French doors to the private rear garden, plus a handy guest cloakroom off the entrance hallway.
Upstairs, the landing leads to an en-suite master bedroom, three further bedrooms and a main bathroom, while a detached garage and two parking spaces can be found outside.
Like all new homes at Buttercup Place, the ‘Chillbury’ is completed to a high standard specification, including central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob and hood.
Buttercup Place is well connected for commuters, with the M54 and M6 just a few miles from home, while regular direct services operate from Wolverhampton railway station to London, Birmingham and Manchester.
Families will appreciate that just beyond the development lies the state-of-the-art new Rakegate Primary School and children’s centre, while there’s also a health centre and handy local shops a short stroll away. North East Wolverhampton Academy, for secondary school age children, is also within walking distance.
A little further is Oxley Park Golf Club, while nearby Aldersley Leisure Village offers a fantastic choice of sporting facilities including all-weather football and hockey pitches, the National Indoor Shooting venue, a banked velodrome for cyclists as well as an athletics track, sports hall and gym.
Wolverhampton is a vibrant city with a proud heritage based on engineering and manufacturing industries. The city centre, which lies just over two miles away, boasts an array of superb shops, pubs, clubs and restaurants, as well as a thriving cultural scene.
For days out, Bantock House in Wolverhampton is set in 44 acres of peaceful parkland and explores the city’s rich industrial heritage, while Wightwick Manor, just a few miles away, is a beautiful Victorian manor house and gardens run by the National Trust.
