Riga to host international aviation conference

"Going to North Hub Riga" is the title of an upcoming international aviation conference which will focus on air traffic in the Baltic region, including the development of Riga as an important air traffic centre. The conference will be held on April 29 and is being organised by airBaltic.

airBaltic increases flights on Lithuania-Latvia route

The Latvian airline airBaltic plans to add direct flights to the Palanga-Riga route by introducing additional frequencies on Mondays and Fridays, and fly bigger aircraft on the Vilnius-Riga route, to offer an improved transit product for passengers travelling via Riga to and from Western Europe, CIS countries, Scandinavia, and Mediterranean region.

airBaltic to refund tickets for unemployed passengers

The Latvian national airline airBaltic has announced that it will refund the full cost of economy class tickets to passengers who have lost their jobs between the purchase of the ticket and the date of the planned flight.

Austrian is first European airline to convert B767

On 27 March 2009, the first Austrian Boeing B767 (OE-LAE) to undergo a successful conversion to ‘winglets’ in the USA returned to Austria. Winglets are upturned ends on the tips of the wings of passenger aircraft which improve its aerodynamics. This leads to significantly lower fuel consumption and accordingly a reduction in costs, as well as an improved environment protection.
