Job Description
The Buyer / Travel Coordinator is responsible for sourcing, organising, booking, tracking and
handling travel requests for the organisation. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting the
purchasing department ensuring the best possible value.
What You’ll Be Doing…
Travel:
• Organise travel requests
• Provide and research travel options and provide final itineraries
• Liaise with other internal travel coordinators as required
• Book flights, hotels, cars, trains and all other travel-related activities
• Track travel expenses, reconcile travel costs, provide travel statements
• Set up and maintain vendor accounts
• Manage visa, passport and customs situations as required
Purchasing:
• Assist in soliciting competitive quotes for standard goods
• Analyse quotes and qualify vendors
• Negotiate, purchase and communicate purchasing forecast to vendors
• Develop detailed knowledge of vendors and products
• Compile and track quotes, configurations, part numbers, etc.
• Order and purchase routine goods from vendors and distributors
• Generate purchase orders for the vendor/distributor
• Ensure prompt delivery
• Coordinate inventory tracking
• Complete other projects as assigned
The Ideal Candidate…
• 3 to 5 years of office experience, with an emphasis on purchasing
• Demonstrated experience booking high-volume travel requests
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organisational skills
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
• Outstanding problem-solving skills
• Self-starter who has the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Technically literate; experience with ACCPAC is an asset
• Post-secondary education
• Ability to be on-call 24/7 for travel emergencies and urgent requests
