"Women only" insurers don't always drive best deal for female motorists
Almost three out of four female motorists (72%) would save money by choosing a mainstream motor insurer over the majority of 'women only specialists' new independent research reveals today.A recent price comparison of 50 individual risks, conducted by Direct Excellence for Tesco Car Insurance, showed that ignoring the misleading claims of the specialists and including mainstream providers on the shopping list could mean an average saving of £85, or more.
All insurers have access to exactly the same data as the female-only companies, and can price just as effectively.
Allan Burns head of Tesco Car Insurance comments: "The car insurance industry universally acknowledges that women are safer drivers and most companies price accordingly. Our research dispels the myth that the self-styled specialists offer the best deals to women motorists."
Burns concludes: "We would encourage all female motorists to put mainstream insurers on their shopping list. Don't be lulled into the belief that if a company only takes women drivers onto its books then it’s going to offer the cheapest premiums."
