75% of homes sold at Locking Parklands, Weston-super-Mare

St. Modwen Homes has sold more than 75 per cent of properties at its recently launched Locking Parklands development in Weston-super-Mare; the first new homes to be built on the former RAF Locking site.
In just three months, St. Modwen Homes has seen a flurry of sales at the development, selling a total of 26 properties out of the 34 houses and apartments offered in the first phase of Locking Parklands, ‘The Parkside’, demonstrating the pent-up demand for high quality new homes in Weston-super-Mare.
A total of 84 per cent of homes sold at The Parkside have been purchased under the Government’s equity loan scheme, HomeBuy Direct.
HomeBuy Direct is designed to make getting onto the property ladder affordable for first-time buyers. The initiative means that purchasers will own 100 per cent of their home for just 70 per cent of the price as St. Modwen Homes and Homes and Communities Agency offer a loan of up to 30 per cent of the full purchase price. The loan is equity free for the first five years, after which a fee of 1.75 per cent is payable. Loans must be repaid when the home is sold.*
Under HomeBuy Direct a stylish two-bedroom apartment at Locking Parklands can be purchased for just £87,500 marking a saving of 30 per cent off the £125,000 list price.
Neil Simpson, residential sales and marketing director at St. Modwen Homes said: “The response to these stunning new homes at Locking Parklands has been overwhelming. For us to have reserved more than 75 per cent of the properties in the first three months is quite amazing in the current climate and is a really positive indication of the high demand that we expect to continue across the entire development. It is also very encouraging that much of this demand has been from first time buyers in the local area looking to get on the property ladder. HomeBuy Direct is proving to be a huge incentive at Locking Parklands and it’s no surprise when you look at the savings that can be made under the scheme.”
Built to an exceptionally high specification, each home includes a comprehensive range of integrated appliances within the designer kitchens, while the contemporary Hansgrohe bath and shower rooms benefit from storage cabinets and porcelain floor and wall tiles as standard. St. Modwen Homes is also turfing all rear gardens at no extra cost to the purchasers.
Neil continues: “People visiting the development are invariably impressed by the high quality fixtures and fittings that the properties boast. We have designed the homes with oversized windows and ceilings that are higher than usual; the purchasers have really noticed how light and airy the rooms are. Most of the room dimensions are also much bigger than you would generally find in other new homes. Park View has been given the seal of approval by local people and, with little other competition around, I am looking forward to welcoming many more visitors to view what’s on offer here.”
A selection of homes are now available for immediate occupation, including three bedroom town houses starting from £212,500 and four bedroom houses priced from £239,500. A range of luxury two bedroom apartments are also available from £125,000.
