With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee around the corner, those looking for a right regal affair this summer should head to the Selous Safari Camp in southern Tanzania. The boutique safari camp is no stranger to royal visitors, having previously hosted Prince Charles, William and Harry!

The exclusive and intimate Selous Safari Camp has 13 luxuriously-appointed tents, situated within an open palm forest on the shores of Lake Nzerakera. The camp’s remote location means it is accessed by a private airstrip, offering guests complete seclusion and privacy. And while guests may not receive a royal fan fare when stepping off the plane, the camp’s staff provides a welcome fit for the ma’am herself.

In addition, the camp has an adjoining section which can be exclusively booked by a family, group of friends or a couple for private hire to include exclusive use of safari boats, vehicles and walking guides as well as a private dining and lounge area, waiting staff, butler and separate pool.

Part of The Selous Safari Company, the Selous Safari Camp is the ideal base from which to explore the Selous Game Reserve, whether it be by 4x4, walking or boat safari.  As one of the last great wilderness areas on the continent, it has the highest concentration of African wildlife, countless birdlife and is home to over a million large animals and half of Tanzania’s elephant population.

Africa Odyssey (africaodyssey.com) is offering an unforgettable six-night bush safari experience in Tanzania from £3,289 per person (saving £788 per person). Available for travel in June and July, the price includes scheduled flights from Heathrow, internal transfers, accommodation on a full-board basis at the Selous Safari Camp, with game viewing drives in open sided 4x4 vehicles, walking and boat safaris as well as concession and park entrance fees.
