Leading housebuilder Persimmon Homes has signalled its commitment to Cumbria with the announcement that it will soon be opening four more new homes developments in the region.

Managing Director Mark Cook said: “With the stunning scenery, superb quality of life and buoyant employment prospects, it’s no wonder Cumbria is seen as a great place to live – and we are committed to delivering great homes for people to live in.

“We already have two popular developments in Carlisle – Barley Edge and Linton Grove – and our Honister Park site in Workington has surpassed all our expectations, with properties selling as fast as we can build them.

“This year sees us opening additional developments in the area, to meet demand for quality homes.

“We have a site coming this summer at Brackenleigh in Carlisle and a new site at Scholar’s Green in Wigton. We aim to be launching a showhome at Church Meadows in Great Broughton in May and, following the success of Honister Park, we have a showhome under construction right now at Forgehill Park in Workington.

“We are immensely proud of the investment taking place in Cumbria and the large number of construction and sales jobs that will be created within these developments.”

Carlisle was recently named as the happiest place to live in the UK, in a survey by Rightmove – a fact that hasn’t escaped the Persimmon team.

“It came as no surprise to us that Carlisle ranked so highly for well-being, safety and neighbourliness,” added Mark.

“Our experience of the city is that it is a friendly place to live and work, with amazing scenery on the doorstep and a wonderful community atmosphere.

“We recently helped to fund vehicles for the Carlisle Car Club sharing scheme, as part of our ‘Healthy Homes’ commitment to improving the environment and making the city an even nicer place to live.”
