Renault Lander collects refuse contract for Transwaste
Waste management services company, Transwaste Recycling and Aggregates Limited, has taken delivery of its first Renault Lander 310.26 6x2 rear steer rigid with Farid TS1 refuse collection body and rear end loader. The new Lander, supplied by Renault Trucks dealer, Thompson Commercials Hull, joins Transwaste’s industrial waste collection operation, and takes the number of Renault Trucks in the previously Mercedes-Benz dominated fleet to sixteen.
Working a 35 mile radius from the company’s headquarters in Melton, Hull, the Lander makes up to 200 daily collections of bins sized between 240 - 1100 litres and transports the refuse back to Transwaste’s transfer station for sorting where over 90 percent is successfully recycled. The vehicle is fitted with VWS Enviroweigh, a dynamic automated bin identification and weighing system to record customer refuse collections. Commenting on the decision to specify the Renault Lander with day cab for an intensive multiple collection operation rather than a traditional low entry cab, Paul Cutsforth of Transwaste says: “Initially our driver did express a few concerns about cab access, but now it is on the road he loves the Lander and the truck is doing a great job. We’re an environmentally-focused business so the Renault Lander’s Euro 5 technology and green credentials were important factors.
Thompson Commercials provided a competitive package and we can trust them to deliver the levels of service support our business needs.”
Along with the majority of Renault Trucks on Transwaste’s fleet, the Lander will be maintained by Thompson Commercials Hull on a repair and maintenance contract. The Lander, which is fully graphic-wrapped in the company’s striking livery, is an addition to Transwaste’s growing fleet of 28 vehicles which include dustcarts, skip loaders, hook loaders and artics.
Transwaste Recycling and Aggregates Limited is a dynamic full service waste management company providing collection, recycling and skip hire as well as supplying aggregates. Based in Melton Waste Park, the company stocks a wide range of both primary and recycled aggregates, rockery stone, rock salt and railway sleepers available for collection and delivery by its own haulage fleet. Transwaste’s purpose-built transfer station recycles 96 percent of the waste received, minimising the amount which is sent to landfill. The company, which employs 70 staff, has built a reputation for customer service excellence in a highly competitive industry.
