Jodie aims for F1 victory at GPlive Donington Park
21 year-old Jodie, who drives a 1997 Jordan formerly raced by Ralf Schumacher and Giancarlo Fisichella, has already claimed a third place on her debut in the car last year.
Jodie, from Northampton, began racing in 1998 at the age of 13, when in the Junior TKM karting series, coming close to winning the title in her debut year. She switched to single-seat racing cars in 2002 in the Formula Honda 600 Championship. In her second full season she won all fifteen of the fifteen races, an unprecedented achievement.
Last spring, Jodie decided she was ready to handle Formula One horsepower. She was right, claiming a third place on her debut at Brands Hatch in the euroBOSS series for former F1 cars, at the wheel of the Jordan. Since then she’s been racing in the same Formula Renault UK series that took Kimi Raikkonen to stardom, but she’ll be back in her Jordan for the GPlive event in May.
“I’m really looking forward to the GPlive event at Donington” said Jodie. “It will mean that I get to meet a lot of fans, not to mention rubbing shoulders with some great motor racing names. Add in one of the best drivers’ circuits in the world. I’ll be in heaven!”
“Jodie’s presence at GPlive is clear proof that the event isn’t just about drivers of years gone by” said Richard Morgan, the initiator of GPlive. “Jodie is perhaps on of the most exciting new stars in the country and we’re delighted she’s agreed to join us both at the Autosport Show and, of course at GPlive. Jodie will be joining what is perhaps the biggest line-up of iconic Grand Prix cars and stars in the world.”
