First purchasers make themselves at home at Gener8

First time buyers Wesley and Sophie Wright have become the first residents at a new development which is transforming part of East Manchester.
The young couple have now moved into a brand new three-bedroom property at Gener8, in Miles Platting, after developer Lovell helped them to take their first step onto the property ladder.
A whole new community is forming at Gener8 and housebuilder Lovell will eventually build over 1,000 new homes at the location, in conjunction with Manchester City Council. The 22-hectare development will eventually include a number of new and refurbished green open spaces, including a new park to run alongside the Rochdale Canal.
First residents Sophie, 23, a speech and language therapist, and her 24-year-old husband Wesley, a postman, found the home of their dreams at the development after deciding they needed more space than their two-bedroom apartment in Fallowfield offered.
Sophie explains: “We were looking to move to the area and we were just really impressed by the amount of space inside Lovell’s homes and the affordability they offered. We also felt the opportunity to be part of a brand new community was really appealing. The area is very quiet and it’s been great to spend some time outside and have a garden while the weather has been so nice. But, at the same time, we’re not far from the city centre.”
To help make the move possible, Lovell were able to offer the pair a 5% contribution to their deposit and carpets throughout their new home, which Sophie and Wesley upgraded to wood flooring on the ground floor.
“We love the layout of the house,” Sophie continues. “We didn’t think we’d find a house that was open-plan without having to do some work to it so when we saw that the living space was open-plan in the Miley, we knew it was for us. It’s great when we have guests round, no one is shut away in the kitchen, and it’s very sociable to have everyone in the same place.”
Eventually their three-bedroom house will provide the perfect family pad but, for now, they are using their two extra bedrooms as a guest bedroom and an office.
Sophie adds: “It could have been a daunting experience buying our first home but Lovell has made everything as easy as it could have been. Everyone here, from the site workers to the sales staff have been great with us. We’re looking forward to having some neighbours now!”
Situated within an established residential area, residents of Gener8 will not only have an exciting new place to call home, they will be within easy reach of a host of local amenities including the newly opened £7.4m Park View Community Primary School, Miles Platting and Ancoats Sure Start Children’s Centre, Victoria Mill and the sports facilities at Sportcity. The extension of the Metrolink tram system will bring fast, frequent trams to the area later this year.
Two, three and four-bedroom homes are priced from £110,995 to £159,995.
