Gawler Ranges Wilderness Safaris new 'Swagon' accommodation

The "Swagon" is a new Outback accommodation option which literally elevates the traditional Aussie swag to new heights. This inspired experience is offered by Gawler Ranges Wilderness Safaris who has specialised in customised wildlife and natural history tours in and around the Eyre Peninsula for more than 20 years.

Created from an authentic early Australian style wagon, the Swagon is located at the safari company's South Australian base camp at Kangaluna near Wudinna and provides an unusual alternative to tented accommodation or sleeping out under the stars in a 'swag' bedroll.

The Swagon boasts recycled wood on the sides and floor, new roof hoops, a canvas cover that can be removed to allow guests to sleep under the amazing southern stars, plus a queen size double mattress and luxury style swag. This is also a romantic option for honeymooners or lone travellers as there is no single supplement. The Swagon also comes with its own bathroom and toilet.

Guests staying in the Swagon, also known as the Galaxy Suite, can sit on their private deck at the front where horses or bullocks would once have been attached, enjoying pre-dinner drinks, the beautiful bush surroundings of the Gawler Ranges National Park and stunning night skies.

A variety of one-, three- and four-day tour itineraries are available from Gawler Ranges Wilderness Safaris, with highlights including swimming with sea lion pups at Baird Bay, and visiting unusual volcanic rock formations dating back 1,500 million years.

Prices are available on request and can include accommodation in the Swagon, meals as stated in the itinerary, tour guides, entrance fees, boat charters and passes. For further information, visit gawlerrangessafaris.com.
