17th May 2012 Print

Chelsea is delighted to welcome Tiki-inspired bar Kona Kai to its shores.  Deriving its name from the Hawaiian term for “Lady of the Sea”, guests are transported to a Polynesian paradise with exotic cocktails and cuisine, summer soundtrack and live entertainment in a vibrant space.

From themoment they arrive, guests are whisked away on a summer holiday, with an oasis style interior, decked out in bamboo and palm trees and staff attired in Hawaiian shirts and dresses.  The main bar area houses a striking wooden carved canoe suspended from the ceiling, alongside shell covered lamps and puffer fish lanterns.  Other quirky design features include; wooden carvings in the shape of masks and spears and tropical flower motifs used throughout the venue.

Kona Kai’s talented bar team have created the perfect range of rum based, South Pacific themed cocktails which embrace both the classic and contemporary.  Firm Tiki favourites such as The Missionary’s Downfall, Pele, Mai-Tai and Pinã Colada are available. As well as those with Kona Kai’s own twist such as the Muu Muu, a delicate combination of white rum, lychees and rose syrup, and the Summer Sling, a refreshing blend of Zubrowka bison grass vodka, crushed mint and cucumber, shaken with apple sours, lemon juice & Guanabana juice.  Visually stunning sharing options such as the Love Boat, Scorpion and Tiki Death Punch are also a feast for all the senses.

For those who want to tuck into a slice of the Tropics, there is a simple but delicious food menu offering starters such as: Hawaiian Grilled Pineapple, Honey and Smoked Bacon Skewers, Islander’s Seafood Salad and Crispy Prawns.  Larger dishes include New Zealand Green Shell Mussels in Lime Red Curry and Coconut Milk, and The Kona Kai Sharing Platter, bursting with delights such as: Lamb and Red Onion Skewers, Jerk Chicken, and Vegetable Spring Rolls.

Kona Kai’s fun and relaxed atmosphere and capacity of 350makes it the venue of choice for any type of event, from a private dinner to a cocktail and canapé party.  There are also regular live performance from an array of talented and unique music, dancers and DJS.  Licensed until late at the weekends, Kona Kai gradually evolves from a buzzing bar into a nightclub on Fridays and Saturdays with guests hitting the floor to feel good tracks.

So for an endless summer set sail to Kona Kai.
