Alan Davies presents Armchair Euros for Radio 5 live

6th June 2012 Print

Alan Davies and friends deliver their Euro 2012 analysis a mere 1,925 miles away from the action in new series, Armchair Euros, which launches on Saturday 2 June at 11am on Radio 5 live and runs throughout the championship.

Alan will be joined each week by Tayo Popoola and Ian Stone, plus he’ll speak to the pundits and commentators reporting live from Poland and the Ukraine. The team will also welcome the occasional guest contributor, including Mock the Week host Dara O’Briain, who’ll give his insight into Ireland’s chances in the first show.

For more than 20 years Alan has travelled to every major tournament to follow the England team, but is looking forward to enjoying this one from the comfort of his own home on TV and radio.

Alan Davies says: “I love 5 live and they’ve given us an hour a week to talk about football…amazing!

"We are armchair fans and we’ll be supporting England with a passion, but we’ll be cheering on the Republic of Ireland as well – possibly for longer! We’ll also be watching the watchmen. I like the BBC team, they have strength and depth with Gary Lineker, Clarence Seedorf and Jurgen Klinsmann, and it’s good to see Robbie Savage in the 5 live team - still the only Welshman to reach a major tournament since 1958.”

Alan and his fellow football obsessives will be ‘covering the coverage’ every Saturday from 11.00am to 12.00pm, as well as selecting their winners and losers from the week’s matches.

Alan Davies’ Armchair Euros starts on Saturday 2 June at 11.00am and is a USP Content production for 5 live.
